Seagate Hard Drives – DANGEROUS
I usually make it a policy not to “dis” hardware manufacturers, but after two seagate 2.5 SATA HDD crashes, of the same model I can no longer stand idle. Since when does a company knowingly. I am one of the more “gentle” computer users out there, especially when it comes to portables. Think of it, your traveling with your laptop in the normal day-to-day routine and open the lid to your precious and BAM-click-click – you’ve just lost 200GB of life, some of which you were too lazy to back up! Well this happened to me, not once but twice! I did learn my lesson after the first loss and made a religious practice of backing up my data. What gets to me is this was a known problem that both Seagate and Apple were aware of – can’t say that Apple is completely innocent since it took them almost 4 years to finally acknowledge and provide a solution. But I will never purchase another Seagate product again – some people have the “three strikes and your out” rule – mine is two strikes and back to Western Digital – WD drives are golden pieces of sunlight that are rock solid.
